The goal of the position is to support delivering the good agricultural practices to the farmers and stakeholders as well as constructing and developing a good farmer community and be the bond between Marou and the cacao farmers and stakeholders.
Coordinate closely with sourcing team to make sure the outcome of quality dried bean from the farming practice to post-harvest process. Opportunities to be trained on sourcing practice.
The employee will have to go to Cocoa plantations regularly (Stay on-site for several days if necessary). The rest of the time he/she will be based in Ho Chi Minh City at the factory.
1. Agronomy technical advisor for current sourcing regions (80%):
Evaluation of current practices, productivity, farming issues.
Proactively identify, suggest, and apply suitable farming practices which adapted to each region.
Improve the plantation with agro-ecological objectives.
Ensure good practices for pods harvest to ensure best fermentation.
Optimize farm monitoring.
Develop and maintain a network of committed farmers to implement good practices and improve the pod production.
Implementation of survey on the overview situation of cacao of each region and keep update.
2. Cacao Development Project support (20%):
Support project mobilization and outreach to farmers; Organize, promote and support outreach events.
Provide technical and financial assistance to farmers for sustainable development in farms and keep the relationship in close.
Facilitate to set up demonstration farms and co-operative farms
Built up and maintain relations with local government and research organizations to coordinate approaches in agriculture development and marketing.
Contribute to dissemination of good practice and lesson from the organization’s work and promote experience sharing and learning in the team, organization, and partners.
3. Other tasks assigned by Manager (if any)
Job Requirement
Bachelor Degree in agronomy, agriculture, biology, natural science or a related field.
Global organic certification is a plus
1-2 years of experience in the same position
Have experience working with farmers.
Interest in sustainable agriculture, responsible sourcing.
Willingness to travel, and ability to work outside.
Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office.
Fluent in English (both spoken & written)
Strong decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
