Position Summary: The Laboratory Manager is a key role responsible for the overall operational efficiency, quality assurance, and strategic direction of Diag's laboratory. This hands-on, requires a highly experienced and motivated individual with a proven track record in medical laboratory management, a deep understanding of quality control systems, staff development, financial management, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will provide expert oversight of all laboratory operations, ensuring optimal performance, continuous improvement, and a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of daily laboratory operations across all departments (biochemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pathology, genetics), ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to established protocols. This includes staff scheduling, equipment maintenance, and supply chain management.
Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QMS fully compliant with ISO 15189:2022 and criteria 2429 of Ministry of Health. This encompasses developing and implementing internal and external quality control programs, managing participation in external quality assessment schemes (EQAS), overseeing quality documentation, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and ensuring ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations.
Financial Management: Develop and manage the laboratory's budget, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high quality standards. This includes forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Staff Management & Development: Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate laboratory personnel. Foster a positive and productive work environment that promotes professional development, teamwork, and continuous learning. This includes performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and succession planning.
Equipment Management: Oversee the preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of all laboratory equipment. Manage service contracts, ensure optimal equipment functionality, and manage the procurement of new equipment as needed.
Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels of all chemicals, consumables, and reagents, optimizing stock levels to minimize waste and ensure timely procurement. Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems, including vendor management and contract negotiation.
Test Development & Validation: Participate in the validation and implementation of new tests and methodologies, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Contribute to EQAS documentation and review processes.
Customer Service & Communication: Ensure excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally. Maintain effective communication with clients, staff, and other departments within the organization.
Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present regular reports (weekly, monthly, and as needed) to the Lab Directors and Board of Directors (BOD), highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), addressing challenges, and proposing solutions.

Job Requirements:
Education: Master's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a closely related field.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in a high-complexity medical laboratory setting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Extensive experience across multiple laboratory disciplines (biochemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pathology, and genetics) is essential.
Skills & Knowledge:
Deep understanding of laboratory procedures, techniques, quality control protocols, and regulatory requirements (ISO 15189:2022, criteria 2429 of the Ministry of Health). Proficiency in operating and maintaining a wide range of laboratory equipment. Strong understanding of laboratory safety regulations and best practices. Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software. Exceptional organizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proven ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and manage a team effectively. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Budget management and financial reporting skills. Fluency in Vietnamese and English is preferred.
