The senior mechanical design engineer principle task is to design production tools, equipment parts for new project/s. Designs are done in Solid Works, resulting with 2d technical drawings which are sent to equipment makers (e.g. internal or external tool shops) for processing. The basic knowledge is required for metal processing technologies (milling, turning, grinding, EDM). In addition to that designer should be equipped with knowledge about dimensioning and tolerances.
The person is responsible for performing designs to ensure meeting project/process requirements. Participating/cooperating with other project members to secure successful outcome.
Designer responsibilities:
Design production automatic equipment.
Equipment development/modification including required documentation.
Documenting machine upgrade coming from Kaiznes
Participation in Fastlane/Automation projects conducting in VN
Designing upgrades/adaptations of existing machines for new products/innovations
Support Industrialization department in collecting data for upgrades/ redesigns/retrofitting of existing machines through revision of existing documentation and active participation of FEMA/design reviews activities.
Support Industrialization department with making 2D drawing and documentation checkup.
Ability to design high complexity automated equipment
Ability to train/guide other designers, with lower level of expertise/knowledge.
Ability to leading feasibility assessment of improvements/automation ideas suggested by production/QA. Able to transform idea into practicable process/solution.
Contact point for designing related work e.g. technical assessment.
Distributing work within designing team. Monitoring progress on assigned tasks.
Ability to assembly moderate complexity equipment (tool/machine) when needed.
Ability to act as leader upon request/appointment from direct superior.
Authorities
Involvement in Equipment Design Concept
Proposing the solution which is optimal technical and cost wise
Selecting suppliers for designed parts (out of the list of approved suppliers)
Communicates with
Industrialization project managers who are driving the relevant industrialization projects.
Colleagues from mechanical design when performing part of the bigger task.
Assembly engineers.
Equipment suppliers and tool shops.
