I. Duties
● Effectively support and coordinate with the Homeroom teacher / Class teacher to teach and manage students in daily lessons.
● Support individuals or groups of students during lessons as directed by the Homeroom teacher / Class teacher.
● Supervising the groups of children, both in and out of lesson time, in other areas of the school such as library, corridor, playground, etc.
● Assist in supervising students during school events, trips, swimming, lunch time, playtime, before & after school, etc.
● Observe students' attitudes and behaviours and report to the Homeroom teacher / Class teacher in case of unusual symptoms related to health, safety & well-being in order to come up with timely solutions.
● Ensure classroom resources and learning materials are organised and ready before the lessons.
● Support the School, by covering lessons as required when a class teacher is absent.
● Support in other classes as requested.
● Be available to answer parent questions as appropriate if the Homeroom teacher / Class teacher is not available and to keep the teacher informed, remembering to use discretion and professionalism at all times.
● Develop and manage relevant resources.
● Support in the assessment & review of proficiency levels for identified students & admissions candidates.
● Assist in maintaining assessment and intervention records.
● Support to identify & disseminate techniques and tools that boost success in an educational environment where students are learning through an additional language.
● Support to instruct & monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
● Familiarise with the relevant educational programmes, schemes of work and all school policies.
● Participate in developing school programmes as directed by Programme Principal
● Participate in school activities such as events, workshops, meetings, and conferences.
● Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
● Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team such as event coordination, field trips, and homeroom.
II. Requirement
1. Education
● University degree or above (Bachelor Degree in Education/Pedagogy or Related Teaching Subject is preferred)
● Recognised Certificate in English
2. Experience
● Minimum of 2 years of teaching assistant experience or related experience in Education
● Previous experience in international/bilingual/integrated school is highly preferred.
● Prior experience working with school aged children is preferred
3. Skills & Knowledge
● Fluent in English
● Basic understanding of childhood development and steps to support children of various ages
● Ability to effectively communicate with teachers and parents regarding students’ progress and behaviour
● Ability to manage potentially challenging behaviour from students and maintain a professional and patient demeanour
● Strong organisational skills
● Proficiency in a second language such as Korean, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese is a plus
● Understanding of other cultures
● Strong commitment to child protection and safeguarding
