As a Safety Manager for our AES battery/cell manufacturing spaces and lab areas, you will be in based primarily in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. You will also have oversight of the pilot battery line in PRC.
You will be responsible for developing the systems, processes, and methods to ensure our team members and our properties are safe during the manufacture and testing of our lithium-ion batteries/cells.
Key Responsibilities
Develop battery/cell safety documents and training.
Provide battery/cell safety training for new employees, as required.
Develop a written lithium-ion battery/cell safety policy to include protocols and methods related to battery safety, fire protection, and emergency response.
Create criteria for battery and cell storage requirements related to fire protection and building performance. Evaluate AES facilities to the criteria.
Work with property insurance provider on fire protection system recommendations and requirements as related to battery/cell storage.
Manage all aspects of incident reporting, tracking, documentation, and corrective actions using online injury reporting software.
Develop audit criteria and checklists for self-assessments in the manufacturing and lab development areas.
Conduct regular walk-through safety inspections to identify hazards and work with teams to correct.
Conduct Risk Assessments and reviews for new equipment and manufacturing line design.
Provide guidance on regulations related to the safe transportation of batteries and cells.
Develop and deploy battery/cell emergency response equipment as necessary while improving existing methods.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Fire Safety/Science, or Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial) or similar
3-5 years minimum of working in battery/cell manufacturing and/or development environment
1-2 years minimum experience working with lithium-ion battery safety and emergency response equipment
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese to effectively convey information and collaborate with diverse teams.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Power Point.
Ability to work well with people in various levels of the organization
Ability to travel up to 25-35% of the time. Some travel outside Vietnam is required.
Experience in the following:
Using an injury reporting management system
Experience working with battery safety and emergency response
Experience working with international battery safety, storage, and shipment regulations (IFC, IBC, IATA, ICAO, UN) as well as UNDOT (USA).
