Role Purpose:
- Lead the development, enhancement, and governance of credit risk policies for retail products (mortgage, project home, unsecured lending, credit cards, etc.), ensuring a balanced approach between risk control and portfolio growth objectives.
- Translate risk strategy into clear, actionable credit policies that can be effectively implemented and monitored.
- This role is expected to actively challenge existing practices and contribute to building a stronger risk framework.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy Development & Governance
- Develop, review, and update credit risk policies across retail products
- Define underwriting standards, approval criteria, and delegation of authority
- Ensure policies are clearly documented, practical, and consistently implemented
- Conduct periodic policy reviews based on portfolio performance and market changes
2. Risk Strategy Translation
- Translate risk appetite and portfolio strategy into policy rules and cut-offs
- Work with Risk Analytics to embed scorecards, segmentation, and risk-based approaches into policies
- Ensure policies support sustainable growth while maintaining asset quality
3. Portfolio Monitoring & Policy Optimization
- Monitor portfolio performance (approval rates, early delinquency, vintage curves, etc.)
- Identify gaps and propose policy adjustments (cut-offs, rules, exceptions)
- Conduct impact analysis to assess effectiveness of policy changes
4. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Business, Risk Analytics, Product, and Collections teams
- Provide risk perspective on business initiatives and product proposals
- Present policy changes and recommendations in a clear and structured manner
5. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with SBV regulations and internal risk frameworks
- Support audit and regulatory review processes
6. Process & Control
- Maintain strong policy governance (documentation, version control, approval workflow)
- Ensure consistent policy implementation across channels and systems
Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years in credit risk or credit products, preferably within retail lending
- Experience in credit policy, underwriting, or risk strategy
- Exposure to retail products such as personal loans, credit cards, or mortgages
Technical Skills:
- Good understanding of retail credit lifecycle (origination → monitoring → collections)
- Familiarity with scorecards, segmentation, and portfolio performance metrics
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into policy rules
- Understanding of SBV regulations and retail credit frameworks
