Sample Quality Engineer (Furniture/Binh Duong)

To work within the Design and Development Group to develop designs, coordinate design projects within the scope given.  Complete and modify furniture sketches or CAD drawings given by Team leader and Design department leader.

1.      Sourcing

·       Visit Canton Fair / Furniture Shows; collect new design concepts, new suppliers, and competitive product information with PI & Vendor Visit System.

·       Update potential vendors’ status from vendor visit & furniture shows using PI & Vendor Visit System.

·       Train new suppliers to meet Ashley’s basic requirements.

·       At least 3 PI Entries per SQE team member each week, 1 new vendor visit each month.

·       New material, finish, cover, mechanism, and electronics development according to designers’ needs.

·       Design collected from current vendors by PI (Product Intelligence APP).

2.      Report

·       Responsible for developing designs/drawings using AutoCAD Software,3dMax and Photoshop based on the given guidelines and standards.

·       Initial Design drawing and sample request preparation for sample.

·       Rendering preparation for the Designed item if necessary (3D Max or Adobe PS).

·       Changing or revising design drawing during sample review if necessary.

·       Cleaning up drawing after Market if the item is a GO item.

·       Patent drawing if necessary.

·       Compare competition products based on scale, price, and material usage if necessary.

·       Estimate the cubes (if needed), collect information and prepare sample requests prior to project release.

·       Involved in product engineering and construction (PPR Process).

·       Prepares NPIS sheet for new product introduction that will be sent to ID. (for China and International projects only)

·       Update CLS design information on time.

3.      Communication

·       Effectively communicate via email, phone, verbally between Managers, Vendors and Citigroup employees.

·       Responsible in communicating with the international design, engineers and product development team regarding relevant information.

·       Communicate effectively with development team and US design team during sample review.

4.      Monitoring

·       Follow up and coordinate with development teams in monitoring sample status and its progress.

·       Work with the development team and the factory for any adjustment and related issues.

·       Travel to factories to review samples and make some necessary revisions and comments as needed.

·       Double check CLS sample information before samples are shipped.

·       Attend the regular Asia Design/Product Development Meeting (Friday Meeting) when needed.

• College graduated or above.

• At least 2 years’ relevant experience in relevant role. Familiar with furniture industry and furniture construction.

• Familiar with AutoCAD 3D.

• Good at English writing and oral communication.

• Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints.
