Senior Data Systems Architect

We are seeking a seasoned data systems architect with a strong foundation in database theory, production-grade systems, and data architecture. This role is ideal for someone who brings not only technical depth but also maturity, professionalism, and the ability to mentor and lead by example.
While mastery in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is not a strict requirement, familiarity with cloud-based data infrastructure is a plus. The ideal candidate will work closely with a data architect, who brings cutting-edge GCP knowledge, to ensure robust and scalable data systems.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the architecture of production-grade data systems and databases.
• Apply deep theoretical knowledge of data modeling, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
• Ensure data integrity, reliability, and performance across systems.
• Collaborate with the data architect and other team members to integrate modern cloud technologies with deep data architecture considerations.
• Mentor junior and middle engineers and foster a culture of professionalism and continuous learning.
• Lead discussions on data governance, security, and compliance.

Qualifications 

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or systems architecture. 
• Strong theoretical background in data structures, algorithms, and database design. 
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, MongoDB). 
• Exposure to production systems and operational best practices. 
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully across cultures and seniority levels.
