SENIOR FAI ENGINEER

Position Summary

Responsible for leading the First Article Inspection (FAI) process to ensure new products, engineering changes, and transferred tools meet customer specifications and quality requirements before mass production. Oversees dimensional validation, measurement systems, inspection documentation, and continuous improvement while providing technical support to cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

FAI Management

• Lead and manage all FAI activities to ensure on-time completion of FAI reports and dimensional analysis.
• Plan and allocate resources to support FAI workload.
• Review and approve FAI reports, ensuring measurement accuracy before release to stakeholders

Metrology & Measurement

• Review technical drawings and develop measurement strategies for NPD and transferred products.
• Perform dimensional analysis, MSA, and process capability (Cp/Cpk) studies.
• Apply GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards in measurement activities and work with customers to resolve dimensional and drawing-related issues.
• Support PPAP and customer qualification submissions.
• Maintain laboratory measurement equipment and ensure calibration compliance.

Team Leadership

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to FAI Engineers/Technicians.
• Conduct training on metrology standards, measurement techniques, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance laboratory capability, measurement reliability, and team competency.

Requirements

• College degree or above in Engineering or related field.

• 3-5 years experience in Quality Engineering, Metrology, or First Article Inspection.
• At least 2 years in a senior or technical leadership role is preferred.
• Experience in plastic injection molding industry preferred.
• Good leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting NPI, PPAP, and customer qualification processes.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of Engineering Drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Proficient in CMM programming (ZEISS Calypso, PC-DMIS, or equivalent).
• Experience with VMM and conventional measuring equipments.
• Knowledge of MSA, SPC, Cp/Cpk, Gauge R&R, and statistical analysis.
• Familiar with ISO 9001, PPAP, FAI
• Ability to interpret customer specifications and engineering documentation. 

• Good English communication skills; Chinese language ability is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified CMM Programmer or Metrology certification.
