A. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Be responsible for coordinating, managing, and maintaining the Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) processes within the organization. Ensure all engineering changes are properly reviewed, approved, documented, communicated, and implemented in a timely manner to support product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
B. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. ECO/ECN Process Management
- Coordinate the end-to-end ECO/ECN process from initiation through implementation and closure.
- Review ECO requests for completeness and ensure all required information and supporting documents are attached.
- Monitor ECO status and drive timely completion of required approvals and actions.
- Ensure engineering changes are processed in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
2. Change Control Administration
- Maintain ECO and ECN records within the company systems.
- Create, update, and archive change documentation while ensuring document control compliance.
- Ensure revision control is accurately maintained for drawings, BOMs, specifications, work instructions, and related documents.
3. Document Control Support
- Manage release and distribution of controlled engineering documentation.
- Verify that all affected documents are updated prior to ECO implementation.
- Ensure obsolete documentation is removed from use according to document control procedures.
4. Documentation, Standardization, and Training:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Drive process standardization initiatives across multiple sites, product lines, and customer projects.
- Provide training and mentorship to Level 1 engineers and production personnel on advanced process techniques, methodologies, and quality standards.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, Procurement, Production, and Customer Service teams regarding change implementation.
- Organize and facilitate ECO review meetings as needed.
- Track action items and follow up with stakeholders to ensure completion.
6. Audit and Compliance Support
- Ensure ECO documentation complies with ISO, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal, customer, and external audits by providing change management records and evidence.
- Participate in corrective actions related to document control and change management findings.
7. Support Supervisor/ Manager to train for new staff and perform other related duties as designed by superior.
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred
2. Experience: At least 3+ years of experience in ECO engineering within the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry, PCBA SMT engineering experience, or box-build parts assembly such as metal parts, plastic parts, and cables
