The Junior Project Officer will support the project with technical knowledge and will be responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the program’s contractual targets in Vietnam. He/she will do everything possible to ensure that the country-specific program targets are met.
Main tasks:
Assist with general project implementation, coordination of project activities, and monitoring and evaluation, communication, and documentation
Support the mobilization of stakeholders (public, private, civil society, informal sector)
Support to formulate terms of reference and monitoring results of external consultants for selected research studies, workshops and/or training events
Support the design, preparation, and organization of country-specific and regional events/workshops/roundtables/high-level events and other activities on waste prevention, reduction and management, sustainable (plastics) value chains and sustainable tourism
Support in preparing appropriate input, and confirmation of data for various project reports including annual reports and contributes to the other reports required by GIZ Head Office
Document the entire process in the project to become a knowledge product and support knowledge transfer
Draft reports and presentation documents
Perform other duties and tasks at the request of the project leader
Support background research within the project context.

University degree in the fields of environmental science, sustainable development, waste management, marine protection, tourism development, or a related field
Experience in organizing and facilitating trainings and workshops; proven experience in network management
Experience in writing reports and making presentations related to environment, tourism and development issues
Multicultural experience in working and learning
Detail-oriented, result-oriented and willing to travel to remote areas
Good knowledge of relevant stakeholders in the sector is required, knowledge of the international framework and good practices on the topic is an asset
Knowledge and experience in waste recycling, extended producer responsibility, circular economy and environmental issues of the Mekong Delta and Central Highland will be an asset
Excellent spoken and written Vietnamese, complete fluency in English (spoken and written)
Experience in communication campaigns and in designing environmental messages and activities; knowledge of local information distribution channels (TV, radio, papers, websites, social media, etc.) would be beneficial
Willingness to travel frequently to project areas
Experience with GIZ is a plus.
