Job Purpose:
Enhances company competitive position by identifying consumer requirements and preferences; developing new and improved ingredients.
Duties:
* Identifies consumer requirements and preferences by studying market research information; coordinating investigations with marketing research; examining competitive products.
* Identifies new ingredients by tracking professional developments and competitor's products; developing options with suppliers; locating new suppliers; conducting basic research.
* Confirms ingredients by preparing formulations; conducting sensory and chemical analyses, consumer test panels, and shelf-life studies.
* Prepares product specifications by studying cost/benefit relationships; identifying and investigating suppliers; examining manufacturing requirements.
* Documents actions by maintaining logs; compiling technical journals; collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; writing technical reports.
* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
* Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Enhances research and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Key Requirements
· Minimum degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology or other relevant disciplines. Any other relevant qualifications will be added advantage.
· Minimum 5 years experience. Must have experience in Food industry, experience in beverage industry will be added advantage.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word)
· Good command in English skills, verbal and written.
· Flexible with a positive and can-do attitude.
· Food Research Skills with focus in Quality Focus,
· Conduct with integrity and confidentiality.
