The Merchandising Manager in the garment industry is responsible for overseeing the entire production process, ensuring seamless coordination between customers, suppliers, and internal teams. This role requires a strong understanding of denim production, including fabric selection, washing techniques, and finishing processes. The Merchandising Manager plays a key role in managing orders from initial inquiry to final shipment, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in denim apparel and the ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
2. Key Responsibilities
Order Management & Customer Coordination
Receive and process customer orders, ensuring a clear understanding of design, materials, pricing, and delivery requirements.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts with customers.
Ensure that samples and final products meet quality standards and technical specifications.
Collaboration with Production & Technical Teams
Work closely with the production team to plan production schedules efficiently, preventing delays.
Oversee sample development (proto sample, sales sample, pre-production sample, etc.) to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
Monitor quality control throughout production and resolve technical issues as they arise.
Supply Chain & Material Management
Source and manage raw materials and accessories to ensure sufficient quantity, quality, and timely delivery.
Work with fabric and accessory suppliers to optimize costs and lead times.
Production Monitoring & Problem Resolution
Track production progress to ensure timely delivery.
Handle any issues that arise during production, shipping, or customer complaints.
Product Development & Market Trends
Collaborate with design teams and customers to develop new products.
Research fashion trends and new materials to provide innovative solutions and maintain a competitive edge.

Experience & Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Textile, Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in merchandising within the garment industry, preferably with export manufacturing.
Proven experience working with denim products, including knowledge of denim fabric types, washes, treatments, and finishing techniques.
Familiarity with denim production processes, such as garment dyeing, laser finishing, distressing, and sustainability standards.
Key Skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills to coordinate with customers, suppliers, and production teams.
In-depth knowledge of garment manufacturing, materials sourcing, and production planning.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in handling production delays and quality issues.
Ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for working with international clients.
Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and merchandising software (ERP, etc.).
