Control Room Operator (CRO)

Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Environment

• Responsible for own safety and actions regarding protection of the environment;
• Operate the plant and equipment within the safe operating limits and according to the requirements of the operating procedures;
• During any emergency, monitor the situation in the control room and ensure the plant and equipment are brought to a safe condition according to the circumstances. Advise the OIM and production supervisor accordingly.

Operations

• Assist in reviewing and updating O&M procedures as required;
• Obtain all the relevant information for the platform such as P&ID, plot plans, equipment and plant lists, etc, to become familiar with all the platform systems;
• Obtain information relating to the design of the platform, system, such as function of system, maximum allowable conditions, normal conditions, safety considerations, operational precautions, etc.;
• Manage and operate the control room and the platform systems and equipment;
• Perform the radio operation in emergency situation as required;
• Adhere to the listed well ranking to achieve the required gas nomination;
• Raise ideas for general improvements, such as on safety or cost savings;
• Ensure familiarization with procedures and management systems;
• Participate in the competency system and achieve own progress;
• Work and develop a team culture.

Report to the Lead Production Operator.

Education/Qualification

• Graduated from a 2-year college or related high school, however a university degree petroleum engineering field is preferred;
• Radio certificates;
• English language (good working knowledge);
• PC literate;
• Good communication and reporting skills;
• Able to make decisions and act on them.

Oil/Gas experience

• More than 6 years’ work experience in oil and gas industry;
• Management of a Permit to Work system and safe operation;
• 3+ years Control Room experience;
