JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and lead continuous improvement efforts through day to day evaluation of Ashley Furniture established quality standards execution at vendors. The CI must communicate ideas and important information to the teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues and lead quality improvements. Primary focus is on day to day management of vendor quality through the use of Out of Box Quality audits, management of QC activities and product performance measures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Out of Box Quality (OBQ)- Perform OBQ audits daily based on shipment schedule, product quality performance metrics and as directed by management. Daily oversight of QC OBQ audits focusing on quality and quantity of audits.
· Quality Project (QIS/QIE Project)- Daily management of open and closed QIS/QIE projects to resolve quality related defects.
· QC Management- Manage QC daily schedule and performance, offer guidance and training to improve performance to expectations.
· Quality reports review-Use Quality system generated reports to guide performance improvements of products and personnel.
· QC Training- Enhance QC competency by providing training and guidance to furniture manufacturing best practices, quality systems, daily performance and quality issue corrective action implementation.
· Pilot Run Inspection- Actively participate in Move/New Go Product Launch Process. Review PPR item defects to ensure proper manufacturing process are in place to prevent similar issues in mass-production. Observe Pilot Run manufacturing process to ensure compliance to Ashley standards and comprehensive execution to design intent, communicating all issues to Ashley leadership and factory management in preparation for Asia First Shipment Review.
· First shipment inspection-Actively participate in and lead AFSR to ensure products meet all aspects of Ashley Furniture construction and design standards to allow product to move into mass-production.
· Finish Panel Audit-Daily review of QC dominator entries to provide guidance and assistance as needed.
· Vendor Quality Management-Perform Quality evaluations daily at factories using OBQ audits, Dominator entries, PBI (Power BI) data, QIS/QIE entries. Lead improvement efforts to ensure corrective actions are implemented that allow for sustained execution to Ashley standards.
· Other tasks assigned by direct manager.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality Assurance CI is responsible for day to day execution and management at vendors to ensure continuous improvement in product quality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education:
Required
· College degree or equivalent work experience in quality system
· Major in furniture, forestry is preferred
2. Experience:
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality assurance, related experience in furniture field is preferred
· With a strong understanding of process expertise, continuous process improvement and quality assurance methodology and tools
3. Skills and Abilities
· Effective English communication skills (speaking and writing)
· Good interpersonal communication skills
· Continuous improvement mindset
· Effective time management and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
· Auto CAD reading skills
· Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools
EQUIPMENT USED
· Computer (PC or laptop), PDA, printer, multi-line phones, copy machine, scanner, shredder
· Various hand tools (for assembly and inspection)
