Job Description

An Automation Mechanical Engineer is responsible for driving factory automation initiatives by identifying improvement opportunities, developing technical requirements, and managing automation projects from concept to implementation.

The role involves automation of manual processes, integration of standalone equipment into automated production lines, and collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions. Continuous improvement, system optimization, and technology adoption are key aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automated systems and processes.
  • Survey production processes, analyze operational needs, and propose automation solutions.
  • Develop Technical Specifications (TS) and User Requirement Specifications (URS) for automation equipment and projects.
  • Manage automation projects from concept development, design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, through final handover.
  • Coordinate with vendors throughout the design, manufacturing, and implementation phases.
  • Review and evaluate mechanical designs, layouts, materials, safety aspects, and overall feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Implement integration and linkage projects to connect standalone machines into automated production lines.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze failures, and propose improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and system reliability.
  • Handle issues, prepare reports, and report technical issues to management.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, design standards, and operational training materials.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in machine design, automation, or manufacturing equipment implementation.
  • Knowledge of industrial robots, conveyor systems, mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, and material handling systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D mechanical drawings and evaluate vendor designs.
  • Experience in project management, working with vendors, and deploying equipment in manufacturing environments is an advantage.
  • Strong systems -thinking mindset, analytical problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement attitude.
