Job summary:
The Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax declarations and reporting in accordance with Vietnamese tax regulations.
This role plays a critical part in managing VAT, CIT, FCT, SCT obligations, reconciling tax accounts, supporting internal teams on invoice and payment matters, and maintaining compliance with current tax laws and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities & Duties:
VAT Invoice Review & Management
- Verify status and total volume of incoming and outgoing invoices between the e-invoice system (Hoadondientu) and NAV to ensure accurate VAT declarations by HO and branch.
- Reconcile import VAT amounts between recorded figures and actual tax paid; verify outgoing invoice tax rates between VNPT data and NAV before submitting VAT declarations.
Tax Declaration & Filing
- Prepare monthly VAT, Special consumption tax (SCT), and other tax returns together with corresponding payment vouchers; prepare property rental tax declarations and withholding tax (FCT) returns when arising.
- Compile NET/GROSS calculations for cross-border payments; prepare and file CIT declarations based on KPMG audited financials including transfer pricing disclosures (Appendix I, II).
Tax Account Reconciliation & Monitoring
- Reconcile tax account balances 333 and 133 against each tax return to ensure closing balances are accurate; perform monthly carryforward of tax balances.
- Compare total revenue per VAT declarations against total revenue recorded in NAV to identify and explain discrepancies; conduct monthly online and quarterly written confirmation of tax liabilities with the Tax Authority.
Document Management & Statutory Reporting
- Maintain complete supporting documentation for all tax filings including VAT schedules, rental contracts, FCT dossiers (contracts, payment orders, remittance notices, declarations), SCT, and CIT computation schedules.
- Submit periodic statistical reports to the Statistics Department (online) and financial reports to the Department of Finance (offline/in-person); ensure timely and accurate regulatory submissions.
- Identify non-deductible expenses for CIT purposes and prepare relevant annexes based on KPMG audited financial statements; update knowledge of new tax laws, decrees, and circulars affecting company operations.
- Support the AR team with daily bank posting (Techcombank, Eximbank, HSBC, Agribank) and COD reconciliation for warehouse locations; reconcile closing balances of all bank accounts at period end.
Cross-functional Support & Tax Advisory
- Advise and support the AR/AP teams and other departments on invoice handling, tax document processing, and related compliance matters as required.
- Liaise with the Tax Authority to confirm tax liabilities, resolve discrepancies, and provide supporting data when requested; monitor and follow up on outstanding tax obligations on a regular basis.
