A. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Responsible for leading the development, optimization, and improvement of manufacturing processes within the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry. Play a critical role in driving process efficiency, quality enhancement, and productivity improvement initiatives. The expertise of the engineer will contribute to the success of our organization and ensure our ability to meet customer requirements.
B. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Process Development and Optimization:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electronic products, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers and manufacturing personnel, to implement process enhancements and resolve technical challenges.
2. Process Validation and Qualification:
- Develop and execute validation plans for new and modified processes, including process capability studies, equipment qualifications, and process performance qualification (PPQ) activities.
- Apply statistical techniques to analyze data and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Document validation activities, prepare reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
3. Documentation and Standardization:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Drive process standardization initiatives, ensuring consistency and adherence to established procedures across different manufacturing sites and product lines.
- Provide training and guidance to Level 1 engineers and production personnel on standardized processes and best practices.
4. Component evulation:
- Participate in evaluating the raw material and new supplier/ vendor with SQE, review and propose to customer for alternative component.
5. Equipment and Technology:
- Evaluate and select equipment, tools, and technologies to support manufacturing processes, considering factors such as cost, performance, and scalability.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to assess capabilities, conduct trials, and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements.
- Support the implementation and commissioning of new equipment and technologies, ensuring smooth integration into existing processes.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze process data using statistical methods and software to monitor process performance, identify trends, and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate process improvement initiatives, project status, and outcomes to stakeholders and senior management.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools to identify and eliminate process bottlenecks, variability, and defects.
- Utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to address process-related issues and drive sustainable solutions.
8. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, technicians, and management, to ensure effective communication and alignment on process improvement initiatives. Share findings, recommendations, and progress updates with relevant stakeholders.
9. Support Supervisor/ Manager to train for new staff and perform other related duties as designed by superior.
